June: A mix of new goodies and rediscoveries

Although an insane exam period (and one very late essay submission) during the first half of June meant minimal time for makeup, the second half was very much the opposite.

The base of choice was none other than the Bobbi Brown Corrector in 'Peach' under the eyes and my newly-opened Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in 'Ginger' on my many blemishes -- stress-related, I'm sure. I was determined to use my old Nars concealer till its dying breath, but curiosity got the better of me, so I finally opened the backup I'd had stashed away for months, and lemme tell ya, it was amazing. Glorious, even. And SO creamy. Why was I ever such a concealer skimp?

One of the most exciting rediscoveries of the month was the bareMinerals Original SPF 15 Foundation. I had been making a point to use it since my first Shopping My Stash post, but the shade 'Golden Medium' being too light for me was still a concern. The day after the last of my exams, I may have popped into Mecca Maxima looking for an end-of-semester treat and I may have been persuaded to pick up the darker shade, 'Golden Tan', while I was at it. Turns out to have been an excellent choice, because using the two together creates a pretty darn good colour match and a lovely skin-like finish. More on this complexion perfector in a later post.

On the eyes; a good curl of the lashes with the Shiseido Eyelash Curlers and a wash of the ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in 'Smash' over the lid (and slightly into my non-existent crease) has been the go-to look. If there's one eyeshadow shade I can't resist, it's a pale golden-brown with a satin finish, and Smash sure does fit the bill.

And finally, a brown lip combination I'm obsessed with. I fill in the whole of my lips with the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in 'Iconic Nude' (totally deserves more hype than 'Pillow Talk' in my humble haughty opinion), then line the perimeters with the Rimmel Lasting Finish 1000 Kisses Lip Liner in 'Cappuccino'. The two are close enough in colour that there's minimal blending required, though Cappuccino just adds this cool, dirty brown edginess to the perfection of Charlotte Tilbury's brown-nude. I like to think of it as my 'don't speak to me', or 'my lips match my mood' kind of colour.
